City, partners to host groundbreaking for new senior apartment homes

On Thursday, May 2, the City of Mobile will join Aletheia House and the Morrow Companies to break ground on a $19.8 million affordable housing community for local seniors.

Announced in 2023, Live Oak Trace will be located on Overlook Rd. and will create 56 new affordable housing units dedicated to residents 55 and older. The $19.8 million housing community is being financed through a public-private partnership with the City of Mobile, Regions Bank, the Alabama Housing Finance Authority and Hope Credit Union and is scheduled to open next spring. The Mobile Housing Authority will also provide rental assistance for some of the future residents.

All the apartments have two bedrooms and two bathrooms. They are furnished with refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, microwaves, and washer/dryer connections. Amenities include a clubhouse room, fitness center, computer room, gazebo, and covered picnic area. There will also be enhanced safety and security features designed with seniors in mind, including an on-site resident manager.
