MCPSS honors National Board Certified Teachers

Mobile County Public Schools held a ceremony on April 3 to honor nine teachers who have achieved National Board Certification, the most respected professional certification available in K-12 education. The National Board Certification program was designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide.


MCPSS currently has 94 National Board Certified Teachers.

 

The new National Board Certified Teachers at MCPSS are:

·         Kristen Burnett, an early childhood generalist at Griggs Elementary

·         Mary Elizabeth Curl, a literacy teacher at Gilliard Elementary

·         Annie Emmertson, an exceptional needs specialist at Gilliard Elementary

·         Dr. Susan Henderson, Fine Arts Supervisor, Central Office

·         Robin Hinson, a literacy teacher at Turner Elementary

·         Michelle Holloway, an exceptional needs specialist at Mobile County Training School

·         Brooke Inman, a math teacher at Davidson High

·         Michael Koppersmith, a math teacher at Alma Bryant High

·         Daleigh Weaver, a literacy teacher at Turner Elementary

 

The certification is in effect for five years. National Board Certified Teachers who maintained their certification were also recognized during the ceremony. They are:

·         Jessica Armstrong, a middle childhood generalist at Dauphin Island Elementary

·         Nicole Baranov, an early childhood generalist at Hutchens Elementary

·         Rachel Baxter, a teacher at Davidson High

·         Dabra Broome, an exceptional needs specialist for Project Search

·         Jessica Calametti, an early childhood generalist in the English As a Second Language division

·         Jessica Ellzey, a middle childhood generalist in the Teaching, Learning and Assessment division

·         Anna Freeman, an early childhood generalist at Turner Elementary

·         Mary Louise Hoffman, a literacy teacher at Whitley Elementary

·         Kelly Mills, an early childhood generalist at Griggs Elementary

·         Julie Neidhardt, an early childhood generalist in the Teaching, Learning and Assessment division

·         Kelly Parker, a teacher at Tanner Williams Elementary

·         Stephanie Pettis, a library media specialist at Hutchens Elementary

·         Laura Sergeant, an exceptional needs specialist at Griggs Elementary

·         Chassity Rice, an exceptional needs specialist at Baker High School

·         Jaime Walton, a literacy teacher at Wilmer Elementary
