MCPSS schools, JROTC & LOTC units participate in Veterans Day activities

JROTC and LOTC cadets from Mobile County Public Schools took part in the Veterans Day Parade in downtown Mobile on Friday. Several MCPSS marching units were honored at the Veterans Day Honors Luncheon at Fort Whiting: LeFlore Magnet, B.C. Rain and Williamson high schools, and Pillans, Calloway-Smith and Booker T. Washington middle schools.

In the Veterans Day Essay Contest, Carter Davison of Tanner Williams Elementary placed second and Haley Young of Eichold-Mertz School of Math, Science & Technology placed third.

In addition, many schools (including J.E. Turner, pictured at right)

held Veterans Day programs, as well, inviting veterans from within their school families to campus to be honored with special recognitions.
